Ordering Prescriptions
Prescriptions can be ordered in 4 different ways. This allows you to order your prescription remotely and when the practice is closed.
- Patient Access
This is currently not working as it should, so you may have problems - Please email your request to fv.dollar-repeats@nhs.scot
Order Prescriptions Using Patient Access.
Patient Access (formerly EMIS Access) is a service which enables you to view and order your repeat prescriptions and book appointments online via the Patient Access website or app. This is the preferred method for ordering prescriptions, but you need personal login details in order to use this.
If you would like to be registered for this service, or have been registered in the past and can't remember your login details, please speak to the admin team who will be able to help.
- Telephone
We have a dedicated telephone answering service, available for patients wishing to order prescriptions over the phone. This system is a recorded answering service only and will not connect you to a receptionist. The telephone number for this service is 01259 742120 and press option 2. If you have any queries regarding your medication, please phone 01259 742120 and press option 1 to speak to a member of our admin team.
- Email
Click here to fill out the online request form which is emailed to us. Alternatively, you can email your prescription request directly to the surgery by emailing fv.dollar-repeats@nhs.scot.
- Paper Prescription
We encourage all of our patients to order their prescriptions using the online and telephone services above however, our reception staff are more than happy to help you with this if you need it. If you do not have access to a phone or the internet, you can fill out the form on the right hand side of the prescription sheet, and place it in the black letter box inside the health centre to the left of reception.
Prescription Processing Time
Collecting Repeat Prescription (items that are on your re-order form)
Please allow at least 2 working days for the Health Centre to process your repeat prescription. Typically, a pharmacy will need another 2 working days to dispense your medication so allow 4 working days to collect your medication from the date you submit your request. Please remember to allow extra time for weekends and Public Holidays.
Collecting Special/Acute Prescription (items that you may have had in the past acutely or been given by the clinician at consultation)
Please allow at least 3 working days for the Health Centre to process your special/acute prescription. Typically, a pharmacy will need another 2 working days to dispense your medication so allow 5 working days to collect your medication from the date you submit your request. Please remember to allow extra time for weekends and Public Holidays.
If you forget to order a repeat prescription
If you forget to obtain a prescription for repeat medication and run out of important medicines, you may be able to get help from your pharmacy under the Urgent Provision of Repeat Medication Service. Pharmacists may be able to supply you with a further cycle without having to get a prescription from your GP.
