The GP’s have asked the Admin team to ask you an indication of why you need an appointment. It is very important that you give this information to ensure you are directed to the most appropriate person. Please remember the team are bound by confidentiality the same way as the doctors. On the Day appointments are available to anyone who wants one. "These are available on a first come first served basis" If you have a problem that you want checked, please contact reception, We will try our best to make sure that you will be seen, or have a telephone consultation, that day or the next day with a member of the duty team.
These appointments are ten minutes in length which is shorter than the length of a standard routine appointment. This unfortunately limits the number of issues that can be dealt with during that time. If you require a number of issues dealt with, you should make a routine appointment with the doctor of your choice.
Anyone requesting an urgent afternoon appointment will be triaged by the duty doctor in the first instance.
You may consult with any of the doctors or nurses available. Appointments can be made by phone or in person at reception, or via a secure website. If you wish to use this website, you need to register with reception in the first instance.
You will be offered the earliest appointment available or at a time suitable for you when there are available appointments. If you wish to consult with one particular doctor or nurse you may have to wait slightly longer for an appointment.
All patients, irrespective of who they are or the last time they had a consultation, are offered a choice between face-to-face consultations and telephone consultations.
Routine consultations are by appointment only. They are at 15 minute intervals for doctors. If you require an appointment with a nurse, the time allocated for your appointment will be determined by the reason for your appointment. If you have more than 3 items to discuss or if you feel that it is a complex issue, please ask the receptionist for longer appointment time. You may specify the appointment length up to a maximum of 30 minutes for any one appointment. You may have to wait for an extended appointment.
Please make separate appointments for each person who needs a consultation.
Prebookable Telephone Consultations are available for patients who want to consult with a doctor or practice nurse at a pre-agreed time, but feel that they don’t need to come for a face-to-face consultation or to be examined. Please provide the receptionist with a contact telephone number and the doctor or nurse will phone you at the agreed time.
Same day telephone advice is available from the duty team at the health centre. The receptionist may have to ask you for some details about the reason for your call to ensure that you are directed to the most appropriate person.
Dollar Health Centre is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance.
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. This chaperone may be a family member or friend. On occasions patients may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff.
Wherever possible we would ask patients make this request at the time of booking appointment so that arrangements can be made and the appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. However occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.
Healthcare professionals may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations.
